- ДокументEnvironmental Management and Audit as a Basis for the Sustainable Development of the Business Environment(Економіка і управління, 2022) Arthur AmberManaging the sustainable development of a company in modern conditions is a highly relevant field of scientific research and is of particular importance for representatives of the business environment. This study focuses on the environmental management and audit system (EMAS) in the business environment. It states that the EMAS is one of the most effective tools for improving the environmental efficiency of enterprises and state control in environmental protection. The primary issue with the article is the coverage of the concept of the environmental management system. The authors considered its essence, performed a review of scientific work on an effective business management system and considered the Shewhart and Deming Cycle (PDCA). The importance of the environmental management system (EMS) is underlined as an important and universal tool for increasing competitiveness, both at the company and state levels. Particular attention is given to the analysis of the international standards of the ISO 14000 series and the European Environmental Management and Audit Scheme. The basic differences between the ISO 14000 series standards and the EMAS scheme have been established. The main gaps and benefits of implementing the environmental management and certification system in businesses in Ukraine have been revealed. Any project that claims to be successfully initiated and implemented needs to be reviewed and analyzed. Environmental auditing is an essential benefit of investing in Ukraine, allowing to expect and prevent potential risks. Considering that the EMAS is a part of the legislation in force in the EU, and Ukraine is a candidate for the EU membership from June 23, 2022, the article proposes measures to establish the effective environmental management and audit system.
- ДокументModernization of Institutional and Economic Management Tools for Environmental Safety of Enterprises(Istanbul Management Journal, 2024-06-24) Arthur AmberThis study investigates the institutional and economic mechanisms employed for managing the environmental safety of enterprises in Ukraine and the European Union. Choosing Ukraine as the central focus of this study is deliberate and based on multiple considerations. Ukrainian businesses encounter distinct environmental obstacles due to the country’s unique institutional and economic frameworks. Article enhancements to these mechanisms within the Ukrainian context, leveraging the EU’s experience. The goal is to promote the development of more efficient systems for environmental safety management at enterprises, with an orientation towards sustainable development. The research’s methodological framework is meticulously constructed to be both exhaustive and multidimensional, facilitating a thorough and rigorous investigation of the research subject. This study also integrates synthesis, deduction, logical reasoning, and generalisation to augment the depth and scope of the research outcomes. This study measures to enhance the effectiveness of environmental management systems. These measures include the formulation of an Environmental Safety Code and the Progressive Environmental Management System (PEMS), as well as the creation of an independent Environmental Impact Assessment Authority (EIAA). This study also investigates the potential application of AI in automating the analysis and evaluation of environmental impact scenarios. It proposes the establishment of an Intelligent Environmental Monitoring System (IEMS). Furthermore, the research discusses different types of taxes that could alleviate the adverse environmental effects of businesses. It recommends channelling funds from green bonds into the banking system for green loans or setting up a specialised green investment bank. These measures could incentivize businesses to adopt eco-friendly technologies. This study offers valuable insights for enhancing environmental safety management in businesses and provides practical suggestions for policymakers and business leaders.

Over time and as public awareness grows, it is becoming increasingly clear that environmental protection is one of the most important issues facing people in the 21st century. Growing industrialisation and business development are increasing the impact of business on the environment, which can have serious consequences for human health, natural ecosystems and the economy. As a result, environmental security has become one of the most important issues for companies, governments and society as a whole. The article reveals the theoretical foundations of the essence and mechanisms of environmental safety management of an enterprise. The main objectives are: to clarify the essence of the concept of corporate environmental safety management; to propose a classification of objects, subjects and functions of corporate environmental safety management; to consider approaches to corporate environmental safety management; to illuminate theories of corporate environmental safety management that influence national security; to identify stages of corporate environmental safety management; and to develop a classification of tools and indicators for corporate environmental safety management. Research methods. The article used a historical approach, a systemic approach, methods of analysis and synthesis, deduction, the logical method and a method of generalisation as the basis of the study. Conclusions. This research confirms that managing environmental safety in an organisation is a complex process that requires the involvement of different management subjects and objects. Furthermore, the study showed that theories of environmental safety management in enterprises have implications for ensuring national security. The result of this research is the development of classifications for objects, subjects, functions, tools and indicators of environmental safety management in enterprises, which will improve and effectively perform tasks related to environmental safety management in enterprises.
