Pedagogical innovation in legal education: stem methodologies for law teaching

Abstract

This article explores the multifaceted relationship between STEM education and law, examining how integration of these domains can produce more effective legal professionals, better-informed policymakers, and fairer judicial outcomes. We will investigate current challenges, successful integration models, emerging areas of legal practice requiring technical expertise, and recommendations for educational institutions seeking to prepare students for this interdisciplinary future. It is argued that STEM education and law can interact both in the formation of legal competencies through technical disciplines and in the regulation of ethical, social and legal aspects of innovations. Such a combination opens up new opportunities for education, protection of human rights and development of society. It is found that STEM teaching of law is the integration of a scientific and technical approach to legal education, which forms a new type of lawyer: technologically literate, analytical, able to work with innovations, data and ethics of the digital age. The article offers specific recommendations for law schools seeking to integrate STEM methodologies: creating interdisciplinary research centers, engaging practicing lawyers from technology industries as faculty, establishing partnerships with technology companies for internships, developing specialized programs for students with technical backgrounds who choose a legal career, and investing in educational technologies that allow for the simulation of complex technological scenarios.
